The past 5 years has seen a remarkable wave of consolidation in the Japanese pharma industry. This re-ordering of the players in the industry means that while there are fewer players, those that remain have greater resources and ability to conduct business on a global scale. As a result of these changes, though, should emerging biotech firms adjust their partnering and alliance strategies? How should these companies approach the “new” Japanese industry?
